Drilling Technology

Overview

The demand for petroleum products are increasing day by day leading to steady increase in prices. In spite of the increase in price demand is steadily on the rise. In order to meet the increasing demand extensive searches are going around the globe for new sources. But till today there is no technology available to predict with 100% surety the presence of oil underground. So massive drilling is going on all around the globe in search of new sources based on the prediction of geologists and petroleum scientist. The success rate is about 10% only. This is the reason why there is a huge demand for oil drilling personnel.

Course Objective

The basic objective of the course is to provide a wide range of drilling engineering fundamentals , as well as the practical training on the drilling rigs to meet the requirements of Oil & Gas industry. The training and assessment program will also provide an overview of operations , lifestyle, hazards and safety practises which might be encountered by new personnel at rig site. The course provides though understanding of the drilling process in operating drilling and mud circulating equipment as instructed in the well program.

The trainee will able to perform the following responsibilities once the completion of the course:
  • Ability to lift drill steel and materials weighing upto 80 lbs.
  • Label sample containers as directed
  • Assist driller in maintenance and repairs to drill rig
  • Expediting field supplies
  • Performs duties at multiple job sites
  • Performs yard duties at direction of driller
  • Assist in measuring test boring locations
  • Load and unload trucks
  • Smoothly and quickly connect and disconnect the lower parts of the drill pipe when it is being lowered into and raised from the hole
  • Catch samples of drilled cuttings to be analyzed
  • Assist in installing monitoring well casing and screens
  • Clean and maintain equipment
